Parshuram Jayanti

Today is Parshuram Jayanti ( Birthdate ). He was born during the Treta Yug which is during Ramayan period.  On his birth he was named as 'Ram' and often called as 'Bhrigu Ram'. His father's name was Jamadagni and mother's name was Renuka.  He was called as Jamdagnya ( जामदग्न्य  )  since his father's name was Jamadagni  and in the later period was called as Parshuram since Lord Shiv had given him an axe ( परशु   )  named Vidhyudabhi ( विद्युदभि   )

Parshuram faught war with Kartavirya Arjun. Kartavirya used to harass common people around his Kingdom.  He killed Parshuram's father. Parshuram was very angry and faught a war and that too 21 times with Kartavirya and defeated him. He also inhabitated these harassed people in Sapta-Kokan ( seven regions of Kokan, starting from South Gujrat to Southern tip of Kerala )

Parshuram was good at armaments ( शस्त्रविद्या  )  and  deontology ( शास्त्रविद्या ).  Parshuram was a 'Warfare' Guru of Bhishma, Drona and Karna before the Mahabharat war took place.

Since he was a warrior, but from Brahman class, he was called as a Brahma-Kshtriya.
